Dr. Jeff Barber is President and CEO of Owensboro Medical Health System (OMHS) in Owensboro, Kentucky. Dr. Barber took this position in April of 2004. OMHS is a 453 bed acute care healthcare facility with ancillary subsidiaries including outpatient surgical, diagnostic, home health, wellness and primary care delivery. OMHS is affiliated with Jewish Hospital & Health System, Louisville, KY, University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, Brecia College, Western Kentucky University, Kentucky Wesleyan University and the Owensboro Technical Community College. OMHS provides healthcare services to a ten-county area in Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky with a mission of healing the sick and improving the health of the community. About 95 percent of Daviess Countians choose OMHS for their health care needs.

Prior to coming to OMHS, Dr. Barber was the President and CEO of North Mississippi Health Services, Inc (NMHS). NMHS is a 1,250 bed acute care healthcare delivery network with annual revenues of $950M serving 22 counties in Northeast Mississippi and Northwest Alabama. Under Dr. Barber’s leadership his system was recognized as a Top 100 Heart Hospital, 100 Most-Wired Health Systems, Nicholas Davies Award of Excellence, Governors Quality Award (Mississippi), PC Magazine’s ranking of 31 in the Top 500 U.S. Information Technology User Companies, and NMMC selected a Solucient Top 100 Hospital.

Dr. Barber has an extensive educational background: Doctor of Public Health, Health Services Organizations, University of Texas, Master of Science in Management and Systems
New York University, NY, Master of Business Administration, University of Houston, TX, Bachelor of Arts, University of Houston, TX. He has held numerous professions and civic positions throughout his career, as well as serving as Chairman of the Health Careers Foundation, as Regent for the American College of Healthcare Executives, Member, National Healthcare Coalition and locally on the Owensboro Community and Technical College Foundation Board and the RiverPark Center Board of Directors. Dr. Barber and his wife Jackie have 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
