Larry Chewning is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Nash Health Care Systems. The Nash Health Care System is a four hospital system located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Nash serves a population of 200,000 people in a four county area of eastern North Carolina. The Hospital’s annual gross revenues are approximately $450 million dollars. Mr. Chewning is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University (Economics) and the Duke University Fuqua School of Business (Health Administration). Mr. Chewning attended the Duke School of Business on a Navy scholarship and served on active duty from 1977-1982. Mr. Chewning has been a hospital CEO since 1987. The Nash Health Care System is his fourth position as a hospital chief executive officer. Mr. Chewning and his wife Karen have three children: Harris (25), Kathleen (23), and Claire (18). In Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Mr. Chewning is an active member of the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd and serves on the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Council for Nash and Edgecombe Counties, the Rocky Mount YMCA and the Nash-Edgecombe United Way.
