As president and CEO of Great River Health Systems in West Burlington, Iowa, Mark Richardson has guided one of the fastest growing and most successful health systems in the state of Iowa.  Since his arrival in 1997, Great River Health Systems has constructed a new hospital, received national and state awards for overall quality, safety and patient and employee satisfaction, and completed a $15 million services expansion project.

A native of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mark received his bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Iowa.  He has served as hospital administrator/president for Dewitt Community Hospital in Dewitt, Iowa, Jane Lamb Health Center in Clinton, Iowa, and North Country Health Services in Bemidji, Minnesota, where he was named one of the 10 Outstanding Young Minnesotans in 1994.

Since moving to Burlington, Mark has been involved in many community activities and initiatives, including chairman of Junior Achievement, president United Way board of directors, chairman of Grow Greater Burlington, and coach for little league and junior league baseball. 

Mark and his wife Melanie, live in Burlington with their sons Chris and John.  Their oldest son, Mike, is a student at the University of Iowa.
